• Reasons to Choose AC Paintball’s Hyperball Field

new jersey hyperball paintball fieldAC Paintball near Atlantic City, New Jersey currently has six great paintball fields for you and your friends to play on. Each of these fields is unique and have different aspects to offer your paintball group. If you are planning a visit to AC Paintball sometime soon, one aspect you will want to think about is what field you want to play on.

The best way to choose a field is to consider what your preferences are and what game you want to play. If the statements below resonate with you, AC Paintball’s Hyperball Field would likely be a good space for you to play on.

    You Have a Small Group

How many people are you planning to play with at AC Paintball? The Hyperball Field is our smallest field. This means it is the perfect field for small groups. If you have less than 10 players this field can easily accommodate you.

If you only have a few people, but choose a large field, the games can take a while to play. You have to run around and find people before you can eliminate them. This can make the game slow and boring. If you have a small group, opt for a smaller field instead.

    You Want a Fast-Paced Game

In paintball, the smaller the field is, the faster the plays are. When players are in close quarters, it is more difficult to hide from your opponents and simultaneously easier to eliminate your opponents. This means you have to make decisions and movements very quickly. On AC Paintball’s Hyperball field, taking too long to do anything, often means elimination.

If you want a fast-moving game, the Hyperball field is for you. A game on this field is sure to get your heart beating fast and your adrenaline pumping. It is one of the most exciting AC Paintball games you can get.  If you are a fast thinker, this field can also combine with your talents to give you an advantage and help you achieve victory.

    You Like a Challenge

When the field is small and the game is fast, you are in for a challenge. This type of game will take a lot of strategic thinking. It is best to formulate a plan before your AC Paintball game even begins. This way you can make decisions more easily during the game.

Paintball may seem like a highly physical game to many people in it is, but many people underestimate the mentality of the game. You have to make many thoughtful decisions quickly and while under pressure. If you are the type of person who likes a challenge, playing on AC Paintball’s Hyperball Field can test your mental strength and strategical capabilities.

You Want to Play a Game with a Center Point

There are a variety of different paintball games you can play at AC Paintball. Each one has a different setup and different objectives. If you and your friends want to play a game that requires a center point, such as capture-the-flag or defend-the-castle, AC Paintball’s Hyperball Field is a great option. This field has a triangle made of bunkers in the center, which makes for the perfect center point. Outside of the center point, there are also a variety of other bunkers so you can make your approach safely.

You Like Both Natural and Artificial Bunkers

There are two main types of paintball fields. These are speedball fields and woodsball fields. Speedball fields tend to be small and often are covered with more artificial bunkers. Woodsball fields are typically large and use mainly natural trees, bushes, and rocks as bunkers. AC Paintball’s Hyperball field is on the small side like a speedball field and does offer some artificial bunkers, but it also has natural elements as well. If you like a mix of speedball and woodsball, the Hyperball field is for you.

  • Variations of Capture-the-Flag

Capture-the-flag is a childhood game that has its roots on the battlefield. In past times, a war wasn’t over until you captured your enemy’s flag. This format eventually became a popular children’s game and in more recent years, it has worked its way into paintball. Eventually, capture-the-flag evolved even more as players add new rules and concepts. Now there are even more variations of the game to play and we have described them below. You can use these game plans as ideas for your next paintball game at AC Paintball in southern New Jersey.

    Neutral Capture-the-Flag

With neutral capture-the-flag, you play with only one flag. Rather than having a flag at each teams base, one flag is placed in the middle and each team tries to take that flag back to their home base to win. This game is more like a tug-of-war game compared to a normal capture-the-flag game. If someone is hit while carrying the flag, the flag is planted where they were hit. With evenly matched teams, the flag can go back and forth for quite some time before the game ends.

    Center-Flag-Push

Like neutral capture-the-flag, center-flag-push is played with only one flag. The catch is that instead of trying to bring the flag back to your home base, you try to push the flag onto the other team’s home base. Games with one flag at the center can be more interesting than having one flag on each side because it evens the playing field a bit more. The wooded fields at AC Paintball in southern New Jersey are not symmetrical. Trees and other foliage grow randomly and therefore one side can be more difficult to navigate than the other. Center-flag games keep the play fair because neither team gets much of an advantage.

    Bomb

The difference between normal capture-the-flag and bomb is that each team starts off with a “bomb” which can be a box, a rolled up shirt or whatever you want. The goal for each team is to get the bomb to the other team’s base. This is different from center-flag-push because you start out with the object rather than having to capture it first. Bomb can also be played with either two-sided or neutrally. You either have to get the bomb to the other team’s base or get it to the center first.

    Down, But Not Out

Down, But Not Out is the best version of capture-the-flag to play if you want everyone to have a more even amount of playing time. Usually, once you are hit, you are out, but in this game, your teammates can tag you to revive you so you can be back in the game. In this game, when someone is hit, they simply sit on the ground where they were hit. They wait for someone to tag them and when someone does, they are back in the game. This game takes away the opponent’s strategy of trying to lower the number of the other team’s players to win the game. They must brainstorm and find a different strategy to win the game.

    Blackjack

If you want to save money on paintballs, the blackjack version of capture-the-flag is a more strategic version of capture-the-flag. Rather than having unlimited paintballs, a blackjack game only allows 21. Players must learn to use their ammunition wisely. If you’ve played all day at AC Paintball and only have a few paintballs left, you can divide the total amount left evenly and play blackjack with however many paintballs remain.

The wooded New Jersey courses at AC Paintball such as the Black Ops Pentagon Woods field, the Blue Thunder course or the Red Dawn Woods course would be excellent places to play any capture-the-flag game. • How to Start or Join a College Paintball Club

    dualsideshot

College is the perfect time to join a paintball club. Whether you’ve been playing since you were a kid or are looking to try something new, paintball can be a great way to get involved on campus. You’ll stay active, have fun, and make a ton of friends at your school. There’s never a dull moment when you’re playing paintball!

Joining a Collegiate Paintball Team or Club

Look on your university’s website, post in your school’s Facebook groups, or ask around to find out if your school has a paintball team or club. Contact the captain/president to find out how you can get involved.

Do they hold tryouts or can anyone join? Do they accept new members any time during the semester or only during the start? If not, ask if you can come check out a practice or tournament and let them know you’re interesting in joining as soon as you can.

Even if you can’t play right away, there are probably other ways you can get involved. Maybe they need an equipment guy or help on the business end of the team, like balancing the budget. If they are an established club, they probably hold events you could go to during the semester to get to know the players better. The wait will also give you time to improve your paintball game. Check out a local paintball field during walk-on hours and play to develop your skills.

Starting a Collegiate Paintball Team or Club

If your school doesn’t have a paintball team, why not start one? This will be a much larger time commitment than joining an established team, so make sure you’re ready. Starting a paintball team from scratch is a lot like starting a business, so you’ll definitely gain some valuable skills and experience.

You’ll want to pay attention to a few main areas to make your team successful: organization, leadership, recruitment, finances, and marketing. Doing all of this alone can be difficult, so find other students who are willing to help. A core group of people who are interesting in leading the paintball initiative together will be more likely to succeed. Your team members don’t necessarily need to be friends or people you already know. One of your goals should be to meet new friends and bring people together who have a common interest. Put up flyers around campus or post in university Facebook groups to find other students that want to grow paintball at your school.

Check with your school for specifics, but generally starting a club is easy: you’ll first need a list of 5-10 students interested in joining the club. Fill out the proper paperwork and maybe give a brief presentation about your club, and you are good to go.

Once you are officially recognized by your university as a club or team, you can start playing in collegiate paintball tournaments. Now that you have a better idea of how to join or create a paintball team, get to it! Then get out on the field and have some fun.
