• 7 AC Paintball Tips for Snipers

paintball-1278899_960_720To be a good sniper, it is important to have the personality and skills that help you excel at the position. Many AC Paintball players find that stealthy and intelligent players make the best snipers. Whether you naturally possess these qualities or not, you can always improve your game. AC Paintball offers these tips for improving your snipping skills. By practicing these abilities you can improve both your game as well as your team’s strength.

    Learn to Be a Loner

When you play a sniper in AC Paintball’s New Jersey fields, most times you will find yourself alone. Typically snipers go behind enemy lines with little to no backup. You have to have the mental strength to take out your opponents and protect yourself at the same time. At home, you can practice strengthening your mind and consciousness. You may find it helps you become a better sniper.

    Learn to Outwit Your Opponents

One of the best ways to win an AC Paintball game, it to outwit your opponents. This is especially important for snipers. If you can take out your opponent before they know you are there, you stop them in their tracks. You can foil the other team’s strategy and take control of the game.

A good way to outwit your opponent is to get in your opponents head. Try to get in your opponent’s head and think about what their plan may be. Think about where they may be moving to and get set up to surprise them. The key is to eliminate them before they even know you are there. Figure out how to ambush them or interfere with your opponent’s plan.

    Practice Accuracy

Snipers have to be accurate. Their first shot has to hit their target to be effective. After the first shot, your opponent will know where you are. If that first shot doesn’t hit, your target will either run away or retaliate and shoot back. Not only will that person know where you are, but everyone else on that AC Paintball field will as well.

You can buy equipment to practice at home or you can visit AC Paintball in Williamstown, New Jersey. To save some money, consider purchasing AC Paintball membership. You can learn more about AC Paintball membership here: https://acpaintball.com/ac-paintball-club-discounts-and-deals/.

crosshair-278817_960_720Be Ready to Become a Target

Good snipers invoke fear in their opponents and soon become a target. If you surprise and take out most of the enemy’s important players, they will likely focus on taking you out of the game. You should be ready to run and hide if you are spotted. It is a good idea to plan your hiding spot ahead of time and wear some camouflage.

    Be Quiet

Everyone should be quiet while playing paintball, but a sniper needs to be especially quiet. It is important to not give away your position. You should get into position early and only move when no one is around. This will help you keep your cover and surprise your opponents. If opponents come near you, you have to control yourself. Be patient and stay hidden. You don’t have to shoot, every player who comes near you.

Learn When To Fire and When Not To Fire

Snipers need to carefully pick and choose when to fire. If you shoot every opponent, that comes your way, you risk getting ambushed. You have to learn how to analyze each situation and make good choices. Only fire when it’s in your team’s best interest. An eliminated sniper is useless. You need to make sure every shot is safe enough to keep you in the game.

Don’t fire at when a group is nearby. A group is more likely to hit you before you shoot all of them. If a group is nearby, pay attention to their conversations. You may collect important info that you can report back to the rest of your team.

    Invest in the Right Equipment

valken paintball gunFinally, a sniper needs the right equipment. Their marker should be accurate and they should use quality paintballs. Some regular paintballs may drift to the side if they are not perfectly round. High-quality paintballs typically keep their spherical shape and fly straighter.

You also need to know how to properly use your equipment. Practice loading and shooting your marker before beginning your AC Paintball game. Mid-battle is not the time to be fumbling and figuring out how your gun works. With the right equipment and set of skills, you are sure to be a successful sniper.

  • Determining How Many Paintballs to Buy

paintball_packWhen you play at AC Paintball in southern New Jersey, you need working equipment and plenty of ammo. If you run out of paintballs mid-game, you lose your ability to defend yourself. You also won’t be able to take out your opponents. This situation is a disadvantage to not only you but to your team as well.

Your options will be slim. You will either have to find a friend to borrow from or eliminate yourself from the game. If you choose to borrow, you also waste time finding a friend and reloading your gun. This gives plenty of time for your opponents to take you out of the game anyway.

Don’t let this situation happen to you. Make sure you have the ammo you need and check your equipment ahead of time. If you are new to paintball, you may not know how many paintballs you will need. There are many variables to take into consideration. AC Paintball is here to help. We have created this guide to help you figure out just how much ammo you will need for playing at AC Paintball.

    Average Usage

The average paintball player uses approximately 200 paintballs per hour of play. You can adjust this number depending on your mood and level of competitiveness. If you need to get out some aggressions, you can estimate to add about 100 more. If you want to relax more and just have fun, you can subtract 100. Most of AC Paintball’s packages include three to four hours of playtime. You also get 200 paintballs and most of the equipment you will need. If you think you will need more than 200 paintballs, you can buy more separately. You can the pricings below.

    • 200 Paintballs: $9.95
    • 500 Paintballs: $19.95
    • 2000 Paintball Case: $49.95 (Available to AC Paintball Club Members ONLY)
    • 2000 Paintball Case: $65.42 (without ACPaintball Club Membership)

How Often Do You Like to Shoot?

Are you an aggressive player or a relaxed player? When it comes to paintball there are two different shooting methods. Some players use the “spray and pray” method where they continuously fire paintballs. They do not take much time to aim and just point in their opponent’s general direction. This tactic will call for more paintballs. You may want to add about 100 paintballs to your total.

Other paintball players are patient and take the time to aim. They make sure they hit their target and conserve paintballs. This approach does not need as many paintballs. You may only need about 100 paintballs. Both methods can be effective depending on your skills and preferences.

    What Position Are You Playing?

The position you play affects how often you will need to shoot. If you choose to be a Backman or being part of the infantry, you can plan on shooting a lot. These players handle ambushes and defend their teammates. Frontmen and Snipers, on the other hand, will not need as many paintballs. They are in charge of completing the mission and taking out specific targets.

    What Game Are You Playing?

The game you choose to play can also affect how many paintballs you will need. It might not affect the number as much as much as your mood and preferences, though. In scenario games, the scenario you choose will determine how many paintballs you need. If you choose a scenario with a lot of shooting action, you will need more paintballs. Yet, if you choose a scenario with more story and less action, you may not need as many. Usually, players report needing more paintballs on average when playing scenario paintball.

Most woodsball players report using an average of 200 paintballs. Take into consideration, however, that AC Paintball’s wooded fields are our largest fields. This means that you may end up doing more running and less shooting. You might be able to get away with just 150 paintballs. AC Paintball’s speedball courses are on the smaller side and see more shooting action. Most players report using an average of 200 paintballs, but you may want to carry more, just in case.

    Are You On a Budget?

When you play paintball, there are many pieces of equipment you need to rent. At AC Paintball, most of the equipment is already included in the paintball package. After you buy a package, you may have to budget the rest of your money. In this case, you will want to be conservative with your shooting. You may want to consider splitting a pack of paintballs and the cost with a friend. If you are low on ammo, another option is to create your own mini game that does not need many paintballs.

    paintball-1278901_960_720

How Long Are You Planning on Playing?

If you choose AC Paintball’s morning paintball package you get three hours of playtime. This means you will need approximately 600 paintballs. If you choose AC Paintball’s afternoon package, you get four hours of play time. This means you will need approximately 800 paintballs. Don’t forget to take the other variables into consideration, though.

You will also want to take breaks into consideration. You likely won’t play for 3-4 hours straight. AC Paintball recommends taking short breaks to rest and refuel. You should take breaks into consideration when planning how many paintballs you will need. If you plan on taking a half hour break, you can plan to take about 100 paintballs off of your total.

Do You Still Have Paintballs Left?

If you still have paintballs left at the end of the day, you can always save them for your next visit you AC Paintball in Williamstown, New Jersey. You can bring your friends and save with one of AC Paintball’s group packages. You can also try a different field or game and have a new exciting paintball experience.

If you stick with it, you may eventually become a team leader and help other introverts learn to love the game.

  • Team Tips for Playing Woodsball at AC Paintball

Paintball is a team sport and for your team to win, each individual player needs to contribute. They need to fulfill their roll, stick to the plan, and be a good teammate. In some cases, a single player can affect the outcome of the game. They could be the difference between winning and losing. Everyone wants to win. AC Paintball in Williamstown, southern New Jersey offers these tips to help your team.

Playing paintball in the woods is different than playing speedball. The terrain is different and calls for different team strategies. Before playing at AC Paintball, you should plan a strategy with your team members. This will help your team be successful and have fun while playing Woodsball at AC Paintball.

    forrest-618081_960_720

    Plan Movement Strategies and Positions

Careful movements are a crucial aspect of Woodsball. With dead leaves and sticks all over the ground, each step can be noisy. There are also different paths to use. You should discuss movement strategies with your team before arriving at AC Paintball. Assign positions and plan where each player should go. Some teams like to use a leap-frog type movement to move forward through the course. Others separate into groups and head off in different directions.

You should have both a proactive and a reactive strategy. It is a good idea to keep your plans simple. Complicated plans can also confuse your teammates and create chaos. Most plans can change the minute the first shot is fired anyway. You never know what strategy your opponent will use and you will need to adjust accordingly.

    Create a Communication System

AC Paintball’s wooded courses are larger than our speedball courses. It is a good idea to buy Walkie-Talkies or Headsets to communicate with each other. Otherwise, you will have to yell across the field to converse with your teammate. This will give away your positions and could make you lose your voice by the end of the day.

If you don’t have Walkie-Talkies to use, you may want to find another form of communication to use. If you stay close enough to see each other, you can use hand or body motions. Most of the time, you will want to keep as quiet as possible. You should move and execute noisier plans while others are making noise.

Plan a Strategy for Cover and Backing Each Other Up

If you don’t have a strategy for backing each other up, you will likely struggle to reach your goals. Typically, teams have a single person or group that heads off the mission. This person handles completing tasks and finding the enemy. If this person doesn’t have players to cover them, it makes it much more difficult to succeed.

You should plan what each player should do if someone gets caught in an ambush. Figure out an exit strategy and who will be responsible for defense. You may also want to plan to make distracting noises at important points.  Also, figure out who will take up the roles of eliminated players.

    paintball-1278896_960_720

    Teamwork

A paintball team is like a machine. If a single part doesn’t work, the entire system can experience problems. As a teammate, you should always come into a game with a good attitude and be ready to listen to others ideas. If you have an opinion you should definitely voice it, but don’t cause a fight. A fight can throw your team’s chemistry off. Be ready to help each other out and give each other tips.

If your team has a plan, you shouldn’t deviate just because you think you know better. Doing so can throw everyone else off their tasks and cause the team to struggle. If you do see a reason to change the plan, though, make sure everyone knows and is on the same page.

If you want to play at AC Paintball many times, you may also want to consider specializing in positions. Doing so will narrow the focus of each player’s role. Then each player will become more skillful in their responsibilities. This will help the entire team will improve. If you want to learn more about each position, read AC Paintball’s blog about choosing team roles. Follow this link:  https://acpaintball.com/2016/07/12/choosing-roles-for-your-paintball-team/.

    Think Outside the Box

A common downfall for teams is being too predictable. If you use the same strategy each game, your opponent will soon learn how to beat you. Thus, it is a good idea to think outside the box. Do some research and learn some ways to trick your opponents and throw them off their guard.

When your team comes into a firefight, don’t just stand in one place and continue to shoot at each other. This can get boring after a while. Instead, come up with an idea to flank the other team. Have a few players run off and sneak up behind your opponents. This will make for a much more interesting game at AC Paintball.

  • Individual Tips for Playing Woodsball at AC Paintball

There are two main types of fields to choose when playing at AC Paintball in Williamstown, New Jersey. Speedball fields are filled with man-made bunkers. Wooded fields use natural foliage to create hiding places. AC Paintball has three wooded fields: the Black Ops Pentagon Woods Field, the Blue Thunder Woods Field, and the Red Dawn Woods Field.  Each of AC Paintball’s fields has a variety of layouts and obstacles. While each course calls for a different strategy, there are some tips that you can use for all wooded fields.

    paintball forest pathway

    Stay on Uncluttered Ground

Whenever you step on a leaf or stick, it makes a loud crunching or snapping sound. While playing at AC Paintball, this can alert your opponents that you are in the area. They can easily follow the sound and find where you are hiding. Then they will likely target you and eliminate you from the game. The best way to avoid this problem is to stay on the uncluttered ground. You will be able to move more quietly and stay in the game. This tip is crucial to winning a paintball game in the woods.

    Stay Low and Move Slow

To stay unnoticed, it is also a good idea to walk weightlessly. You should crouch low, and move slowly. Instead of walking with a normal heel to toe movement, try to roll your foot on the ground. Let the outside of your heel hit the ground first and then slowly lower the rest of your sole.

Staying as low as possible will keep you hidden behind foliage. If you have to move, try to most where there isn’t much foliage. Your opponents will be looking for moving grass and branches. You should also move slowly. You create wind when you move too fast. This will disturb the plants around you and make you easier to spot.

Move Quick When Others are Noisy

Although moving in an AC Paintball wooded field often makes noise, you do need to move around at some point. If you just stay in the same spot the entire time, it is unlikely that you will be able to eliminate all your opponents. It is more likely that you will get eliminated.  The best way to move without getting noticed is to move while others are making noise. Distance gunshots will likely distract your opponents. This is the perfect time to move wherever you may need to go. If there is a lack of noisy encounters, you can also wait for the wind to blow.

    paintball-1449870_960_720

    Be Patient

One of the biggest mistakes most woodsball players make is getting anxious. Paintball gets your adrenaline going and you may feel the need to take action. While this tactic works sometimes, being patient often proves to be a better strategy. Doing so gives you a better chance of hitting your target. At the beginning of the game, you should find a hidden spot and wait. Let your opponents be the ones eager to shoot and target them before they even notice you. Stay calm and don’t lose your focus.

    Use Foliage as Walls

In speedball, you have man-made bunkers to hide behind. In woodsball, you have foliage. Plants are not as solid as speedball bunkers, but they may be your best protection in the AC Paintball woods. If you need to hide, it is a good idea to find an area where the vegetation is thick. Paintballs will often break when hitting bushes or trees. Hiding behind trees or thick greenery will help protect you.

    Keep Your View Low

When playing in an AC Paintball wooded field, there are many of places to look around. So, where is the most advantageous place to look? Since most of your opponents will be crouching or kneeling in the best place to look is low. Try to focus your vision at the lower thigh to knee height. This is the best place to catch movement in the foliage while also watching where you step. Just make sure you are not pointing at a teammate before you pull the trigger. Be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Wear the Right Clothes and Equipment

Clothing can be either an advantage or a disadvantage when trying to hide from your opponents. Camouflage will help you blend in with the environment. Bright colors will make you an easy target. If you don’t have camouflage, you should wear dark colors such as black, brown or dark green. You should also make sure that your outfit is easy to move in. Wear light and flexible clothing that doesn’t make a lot of noise. Wear sneakers or boots that are comfortable to do a lot of running.

    Use the Right Equipment

AC Paintball’s wooded fields are on the large side. If you want to be able to see across the field, it is a good idea to bring binoculars or a scope. This will help you spot and target your opponents. It is also a good idea to use a marker with a long shooting range. You should also make sure that it is not too flashy. Just like brightly colored clothing, a bright marker can give your position away.  Follow all these tips while playing at AC Paintball and you will be more successful.

  • 5 Benefits of Exploring the Field Before a Game

One tactic pro athletes all over the world use to improve their game is to walk around their field before the game. Plan Your Strategy

AC Paintball has five different fields for you to choose from. This includes the Hyperball Field, the Speedball Tournament Field, the Black Ops Pentagon Woods Field, the Blue Thunder Woods Field, and the Red Dawn Woods Field.

All these fields have varying layouts that call for different strategies. For instance, the Black Ops Pentagon Woods Field has a large pentagon made of bunkers. This area becomes a focus battle area. In this scenario, close range attack and defense strategies work best. On the other hand, the Blue Thunder Woods Field is our largest field. Here individual shootouts are more spread out.

By walking around whichever AC Paintball battlefield you choose, you can scope out where all the bunkers and obstacles are. You can incorporate them into your battle strategy and plan accordingly.

    Find Best Hiding Spots

By walking around the field, you can also find the best places to hide. In the midst of a skirmish, your thoughts can become scattered. When you’re about to get hit with a paintball, you can only think about running away. You don’t have the time or focus to think and analyze which bunker or tree will give you the best cover. Walk the AC Paintball field beforehand and find the best places to hide beforehand. This way, if you get ambushed, you already know what to do. You can get out of the line of fire and continue to lead your team to victory.

    Find New Shooting Angles

You can also find the best places to shoot from. If you plan on being a sniper, you will need to find a good high place where you can see most of the field. You should find a good position before the game begins that you can go straight to your post when the game begins. Then you can focus on eliminating your opponents.

Even if you’re not playing the sniper, walking the field may help you find more angles to shoot from. By walking through the AC Paintball’s fields, you can find a useful bunker or set of trees where you are well protected. Then you can shoot your opponents without having to worry as much about getting hit yourself.

  • Variations of Military Games

Military paintball games can give players some of the best chances to get creative. When you play a military game, there are many different ways to make the game come alive. You can roleplay as your favorite heroes/heroines as well as use props and costumes to make the game more interesting. Attack and Defend

Attack and Defend games are great if you want a fast-paced game with lots of action. In an Attack/Defend game, the defending team sets off an area to defend. They are not allowed to go outside of this area. The attacking team, however, can play anywhere on the field. This game used standard elimination; if a player is hit, they are out.

The game is won when all of one team is eliminated or when the attacking team completes a specific task that captures the defending team’s land, such as claiming a specific prop (a flag, crown, etc.). AC Paintball’s Black Ops Pentagon Woods Field would be an excellent place to play an Attack/Defend game. It has a pentagon of drop tank bunkers in the center that would serve as a good area for one team to defend.

    Recon

Recon is a strategic, collecting game where players try to collect marks from various checkpoints. To set up, various posts with markers or stamps should be set up around the course. During the timed period of play, the player’s goal is to collect as many marks as they can. The challenge is that all of the players have to get to the same checkpoints. With this game, you can have multiple small teams of five players each or you can play every-man-for-himself. This game uses standard elimination rules.

Once the time expires, the team or player with the most marks wins. Eliminated player’s marks do not count toward their team’s final score. For scoring, you can choose to win by most marks accumulated or you can assign a point system where teams receive bonus points for accomplishing extra feats. For instance, if all of the players visit the same post or if any player is able to obtain a mark from every checkpoint, they can receive a few additional points.

    POW

Pow is similar to Attack/Defend, but instead of capturing land or a prop, each team tries to capture the other teams players. When a player is hit, they must go to the opposing teams holding area. Their teammates can get them out by tagging them. The game is over when either one team has captured all of the other team’s players. You can play with a time limit if you prefer. In this case, the team with the most captured players at the end wins. Pow is another good strategy game.

    Hostage Rescue

Hostage rescue is a mix between Attack/Defend and Pow. One team starts out with a hostage and the other team must rescue them by taking them out of the holding area and getting them to a designated area called the sanctuary. If a hostage finds themselves alone without a rescuer at any point, they must wait where they are for another rescuer to find them. They can call out for help if they wish.

The game ends when either the rescuers get the hostage to the sanctuary or the captors eliminate all of the rescuers. The game also ends if the hostage is hit at any point. The team who hit the hostage loses. AC Paintball’s Blue Thunder Woods Field would be a good choice for this type of game. It has two rows of military tents on either side of the field that would be a great base to keep hostages.

    Traitor

To set up a traitor game every player is secretly assigned roles. Teams usually choose by pulling out two kings, two jacks, and a sum of numbered cards from a playing card deck (equal to the number of players minus four) and having each person draw a card. There are two kings and two traitors. The kings are the leaders of their team and the traitor’s role is to eventually turn on their own team at whichever point they seem fit. Standard elimination rules are used for Traitor games. The game is won when the king of either team is eliminated.

    Assassins

Assassins is an every-man-for-himself strategy game. Before the game begins every player’s name is written on a piece of paper. Then every person then draws the name of another player and does not tell anyone whose name they drew. Their goal for the game is to eliminate that player without being eliminated themselves. Players should not eliminate someone other than their target. In this game, the last player standing wins.

    President/VIP

In VIP/President, each team begins by selecting a VIP. The goal of the game it to protect your team’s VIP while also trying to eliminate the other team’s VIP. Like most games, this game uses standard elimination and ends when one of the VIPs is eliminated. AC Paintball’s Hyperball Field would be an interesting place to play a President/VIP game. It is the AC Paintball’s smallest field which will keep the game going and has a variety of obstacles to help protect your VIP.

    Civil War

Civil war is a very structured, warlike game. To begin, each team lines up shoulder to shoulder and then the leader yells, “Fire!” Immediately after this happens, every player simultaneously takes a single shot at the other team. If a player is hit, they either fall down or step back. Each team continues firing rounds until one entire team is eliminated.

  • Variations of Speedball

Within the most common versions of paintball games are even more versions that players have come up throughout the years. By changing one or two simple rules, players can change the entire dynamics of a paintball game. This keeps the game fresh and interesting as well as allowing you to choose which set of rules works best for you. At AC Paintball in southern New Jersey, there are many ways to play paintball. Here are some versions of speedball that other players have come up with to help you choose what rules you want to play with. You can also use these ideas as inspiration to come up with your own game.

    Annihilator

An annihilator game is played a lot like a typical speedball game, except there is more than one team and you use points to win the game. In annihilator, there should be about four teams of five players. When someone from your team hits and eliminates an opponent, your team gets a point. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Bunny Hunt or Predator vs. Prey

In a bunny hunt game, one person is chosen to be the “bunny”. They are given a limited time to run and hide until the rest of the players come in to hunt for the “bunny”. Once the bunny is captured, the game is over. Predator vs. Prey is very close to bunny hunt, except you can have more than one “bunny.” This makes the teams a bit more even and allows the game to last longer.

    Tag

The tag version of paintball is played exactly how you played tag as a kid. One person is “it” and they run around trying to tag other players with a paintball. Whoever gets hit is “it” next and the game continues this way for as long as you want or until everyone has been “it” at least once. Tag is a great nostalgic game that can bring you back to your childhood.

    Hide ‘N’ Seek

Hide ‘n’ seek is another great childhood game that is played exactly how you used to play, except with paintballs. One person is chosen to be “it” and stays at the starting base while the other players run to hide. Once the “it” player is finished counting, they run into the woods and begin to search for players to hit. Once they find all the players, the game is over. You can decide whether or not the players “it” finds get to aid in the search for more players, hide again, or serve as distractions for players who are still hiding. One of AC Paintball’s wooded courses such as the Blue Thunder Woods Field or the Red Dawn Woods Field would be excellent courses for a game of hide ‘n’ seek.

    Trophy Hunter

In trophy hunt, rather than players hiding, trophies are hidden throughout the course. Teams run around collecting the trophies until all of them have been collected. The team with the most trophies at the end of the game wins. Again, AC Paintball’s wooded courses would make a great place to play this type of game. The thickly wooded areas of southern New Jersey make for tricky hiding places to make the game more challenging.

    Paintburner

If some of your players get too competitive and you want to play a game with no winners and no losers, paintburner may be the game for you. In this paintball game, multiple teams play normal speedball with standard elimination rules. The catch is that when you are out, you still have a chance to come back in. Once a person is out, they simply wait at the starting base until two or three more players get knocked out. Afterward, these players form a new team and continue to play for as long as you want. This is a great game to play at the end of the day to make sure no one gets upset about not getting enough playing time. It is also a good choice for team building skills because players have to learn to adjust to different teammates.

Mixing up the rules is a great way to keep a paintball game interesting. Changing the rules keeps players on their toes and challenges their brains. If you have a group or team that has been stuck in a rut lately, playing paintball at AC paintball in southern New Jersey could be the inspiration they need to get back on track. Your team can work together to both decide the rules and win the match. • Three Common Paintball Game Variations

Did you know that there is more than one way to play paintball? If every game were played exactly the same, players would get bored after a while. That’s why past players have come up with different variations of the game to keep play interesting. At AC Paintball in southern New Jersey, there are a variety of fields available to suit whichever type of play you choose. This guide will help you choose both which type of game to play and which type of field to play on.

    Speedball

    10658860_496608440479653_4244368542241473132_o

Speedball is probably the most traditional format of paintball and doesn’t require much planning. It is the main format used by professional leagues and is the only game type used in tournaments. In this format teams are typically small and have as close to the same amount of players as possible. Each team has a starting base and eliminates opponents by standard elimination rules. Each team shoots paintballs at their opponent and if someone gets hit, they are out. Some people like to play with more than one life to allow the game to last longer. If this is the case, the player who is out must go back to the starting base. Then they resume playing until all of their lives have expired. In this version the team with the last man standing wins.

Speedball fields are typically small and filled with many bunkers such as giant spools, barrels, pipes and more. Speedball games are usually short and quick compared to other types of games because the interaction in close range and immediate. Most speedball courses lack trees and other plants and only use shorter man-made structures. This allows players to see the entire field and take out their opponents at a much faster rate. If you wish to play the most traditional form of paintball, the Speedball Tournament field at AC Paintball would be your best choice. It meets tournament standards and is the easiest to control. It is also the best field if you wish to use strategy and like lots of obstacles.

    Capture-the-Flag

    acpaintball_forest

Another popular version of paintball is capture-the-flag. In this version, two flags are set up at each end of the course. Usually, it is required that everyone playing knows where each flag is to be fair, but if you want to mix up the game a bit, you could allow each team to hide their flag to make the game more challenging. The goal of this version is to take your opponent’s flag and make it safely back to your home base without getting hit. If you do get hit, this version also uses standard elimination rules. If you only have one life, you are done. If you have more than one life, you return to home base and continue playing until all of your lives have been used.

Paintball was originally played in the woods and is still a common place to play today.  Capture the flag is best played in wooded areas as there are many places to hide. If you want to play with a lot of people, AC Paintball’s Blue Thunder Woods Field or Black Ops Pentagon Woods Field can accommodate large groups. If you have a smaller group, the Red Dawn Woods field is a smaller course that can accommodate beginners and younger players. It is the simplest field and is fairly close to the entrance of the facility making it easy to monitor.

    Military Simulation

    300px-Humvee_in_difficult_terrain

Paintball shares many similarities with the drills the military used for training recruits. In fact, the military sometimes uses paintball games to help prepare soldiers for battle. With this in mind many paintball facilities, including AC Paintball in southern New Jersey, have developed military-style courses. AC Paintball has the Hyperball Field, the Speedball Tournament Field and the Black Ops Pentagon Woods Field all offering obstacles and various props that create a military-like atmosphere.

When you play a military simulation there are many variables and ways to play. For the most part, it is up to the teams and their leaders to decide their main and/or side objectives. Some common military simulation paintball games include attack/defend games, recon missions, or reenactments. In attack/defend games, one team has free-roam of the entire course while the other team is confined to a specific area that they must defend. In recon games, players are given specific checkpoints and objectives to meet. Reenactments typically involve the two teams recreating specific storylines from historical wars such as the civil war. All of these games often use standard elimination rules. The variations come in by adding different goals, rules, and/or terrains.

The main difference that sets military simulation games apart from other versions is that they try to incorporate warlike aspects. Players may try to make their guns look more like real guns, use two-way radios, or even dress up in authentic costumes. Unlike some paintball variations, strategic planning is a crucial aspect of any military simulation game.

No matter what variation you decide to play, the rules and objectives are up to you. If you simply want to play a free-for-all game, you can.  AC Paintball in southern New Jersey has five fun fields that can accommodate whichever game variation you decide to choose.
