  • Adjusting Your AC Paintball Game to the Number of Players

    Every single AC Paintball game is different. That is one of the elements that make playing so much fun. You never know what to expect. There are many different aspects that can affect the outcome of an AC Paintball game. This includes weather, which field you choose, what game you play, who’s playing, and more. 

    With this in mind, it is good to know how to adjust to each of these elements so you can have more success during your game. One of the biggest elements is the number of players. Check out these tips below to learn how to adjust your game based on team size. 

    Field Choice

    One of the first decisions you will have to make after arriving at AC Paintball near Atlantic City, New Jersey is what field your group is going to play on. We have six different fields to choose from. Some are large, and some are smaller. 

    Large Team

    Small Team

    If you have a small team of about 5 people or less, one of AC Paintball’s smallest fields might be your best option. This includes the Hyperball Field and the Speedball Tournament field. Even if you have a small group, you may be able to join other groups at AC Paintball to make for a longer, more interesting game. 

    Positions

    The next aspect to think about positions or roles. The number of people you have in charge of certain things will affect the outcome of your game. 

    Large Team

    If you have a large group, you have a lot of people to work with. This means instead of having one or two people in charge of specific responsibilities, you can group people off. A good basic plan for a large team is to have a couple of frontmen or runners, a handful of snipers and then have a majority of your team play middleman/cavalry or backmen. Be sure to have a handful of people in charge of communication as well. This will help your team be more successful. 

    It is worth noting that having large groups of people traveling together makes a larger target for your opponents. However, you still may want teammates nearby to back you up. Traveling in groups of two or three might be your best bet. 

    Medium Team

    For a medium team, you can keep about the same ratios. However, you may not have quite enough people to travel in groups. Based on what game you play, decide if it would be more helpful to travel in small groups or alone. In a medium-sized group, it is a good idea to have about 2-3 people in charge of communication. When all of your team is on the same page, you can be more successful. 

    Small Team

    In a small team, you can’t really group people to be in charge of certain things. It is generally better for each person to simply seek out opponents and defend themselves on their own. This isn’t to say that teammates shouldn’t back each other up. Small teams just generally have quicker interactions that don’t call for a large overall strategy as large team games do. 

    Strategy

    Finally, you will need to adjust your strategy. The game you decide to play will also affect this, but the size of your team will give you a general idea of who you have to work with. 

    Large Team

    Larger teams generally involve more strategizing as you have many people and you need to get them all to work together if you want to win the AC paintball game. Some strategies you may want to consider include ambushes, sacrificing players to help achieve your higher goal, and keeping most of your team on the outer edges of the field rather than the center. 

    Medium Team

    Medium team strategies can be very similar to large teams, however, you may not want to sacrifice players for the good of the team as often. Communication is important to keep tabs on how many teammates are still in the game. Knowing this can help you adjust your strategy accordingly.

    Small Team

    Finally, with small teams, keeping your teammates in the game is generally important as a single player can make more of a difference.     In many sports, there are some obvious differences between beginners and pros. You can often tell how experienced a player is based on things they do as well as things they don’t do. Every player has good habits and bad habits. However, the pros have more good habits than bad habits. That is what makes them pros. They have had plenty of experience so they know what works and what doesn’t.

In this blog, we will cover the opposite. Below you will find five bad habits you should avoid if you want to play like the paintball pros the next time you visit AC Paintball near Atlantic City, New Jersey.  

    Stay In One Spot for Too Long

    One thing the pros know is that if you stay in one spot for too long, there is a greater chance that you will get ambushed. They know that it is important to stay moving to stay in the game. If you are playing on one of AC Paintball’s speedball courses, you will want to hop from bunker to bunker. Bunkers are always laid out with a strategy in mind. If you are playing on a woodsball course, try to stay on the edges rather than traveling straight through the middle.

    Take a walk around to observe the field before the game. This will help you greatly if you are not familiar with the field. You can create a plan so you know what you want to do as soon as the AC Paintball game starts. In many cases, the faster you are able to take action, the better your outcome will be.

    Shoot Rapidly

    You may think that rapid fire makes you look cool and may seem like fun, but this is typically not the best strategy. The only time it may be helpful to use the spray and pray method is if you are caught in an ambush. Otherwise, shooting rapidly only decreases your accuracy gives away your position and wastes paintballs. You will likely find that taking a few extra seconds to aim, will be much more helpful than firing all over the place.

    Run Out of Paintballs

    When you get wrapped up in an exciting AC Paintball game, it can be easy to forget to keep a check on how much ammo you have left. If you run out of ammo, it is game over. You will have nothing to defend yourself with. A game of paintball will quickly become a game of cat an mouse. If you have too many, you can always split the price and the ammo with a friend or save them for your next AC Paintball game.

  • Steps for Setting Your Paintball Goals and Achieving Them

    Whether you have been playing paintball at AC Paintball for a while, or you are just starting out, you can always find ways to improve yourself. Maybe you want to work on your aim, or maybe you want to work on making smarter choices. Either way, regularly reflecting on your skills and analyzing areas that need improvement can help make you a better paintball player in the long run. Once you know what you want to work on, then you can start working on improving them with these helpful steps from AC Paintball in southern New Jersey.

    Set a Goal

    The first step to getting better is to set a measurable goal. Having a measurable goal will give you something to focus on and help you determine whether or not you are improving as much as you want to. It also helps to make multiple easily-reachable goals rather than one large goal. If you just have one large goal, it can seem overwhelming. It can make you want to give up more often because you are so far from your goal. On the other hand, if you have many small progressing goals, achieving each one will motivate you to reach for your next goal.

    Many times when people want to improve on a skill, they forget to make a goal. Then they end up practicing without knowing where they are going. This can lead to losing focus and eventually giving up on improving your skills. When you have a goal, you can continually determine if you are progressing as quickly as you want.     The next step is to figure out how you can reach your goal. Create a detailed plan about what tasks you are going to complete or practice so your skills can improve. Write your plan down your plan somewhere easily accessible so you know exactly what you have to do. Make sure your plan is specific. You don’t want to show up to the gym or AC Paintball and not know where to begin.

    Here are some questions you can ask yourself to help create a plan.

    • What drills will improve the skills I want to improve?
    • Do I need any special tools to perform these drills?
    • Do I need to go somewhere specific, like AC Paintball, to perform these drills?
    • Do I need help from someone or do I need to hire a trainer?
    • How often will I need to practice these drills to achieve the results I want.
    • What methods do the professionals use?
    • Are there any ideas or tips on the internet that you could study?
    • What can I change if this plan doesn’t achieve the results I want?
    • How can I stay motivated?

     

    Practice

    Finally, it is time to put your plan into action. Get out there and start improving yourself. You might be a bit overwhelmed or hesitant to start, but you just have to push yourself to take that first step. Once you get going, you will likely get in the zone and want to keep going. 

    The more you practice, the better you will become. If you build up your muscles, you will increase your endurance and other abilities. If you work on strengthening your mind, you will improve your decision-making skills and paintball intelligence. After a while, you will see yourself start to be more successful in your AC Paintball games. You will see yourself reach your goals, and then you can continue to make new ones.

    Continue to Look For Ways to Improve

    No matter how good of an AC Paintball player you are, there will always be some way for you to improve. You can always become stronger, faster, more accurate, and more valuable to your team.

    Just don’t push yourself too hard and remember to track your progress so you can look back and see how far you have come. Instead of always getting caught up in your next goal, take some time to reflect all you have accomplished. You can even reward yourself with a fun outing or a new paintball marker. The important thing is that you have fun and stay inspired. If you are not enjoying what you’re doing, then why are you doing it?
