    There are a variety of different Paintball game types you can play at AC Paintball near Atlantic City, New Jersey. One of these games is called Hostile Takeover. Hostile Takeover is a type of attack-and-defend game. Unlike defend-the-castle, however, it involves multiple targets instead of just one. These targets are usually certain areas or bunkers.

    During the game, each AC Paintball team tries to take control of these territories. Each target is assigned a certain amount of points. Whichever team controls the territory at the end of the game, earns the points assigned to that target. Whichever team collects the most points wins the game. Hostile Takeover can seem more complicated than other types of paintball games. With this in mind, AC Paintball has compiled these tips and strategies for you.

    Plan Ahead

    Every paintball game should begin with a good plan. If you neglect to plan, you may end up scrambling at the beginning of the game. Meanwhile, your opponents may be gaining an advantage and making it more difficult for you to win the game. Start every AC Paintball game with a plan, but also be ready to adapt that plan as needed.

    Choosing Roles

    Part of your planning should include who is in charge of what roles. Some people should be in charge of defending the targets you already control. For this role, choose players who are very observant with good aim. Other players will be in charge of gaining new targets. For this role, you should choose your fastest and stealthiest players. It is also a good idea to have some flexible middlemen who can adapt and change roles as needed.

    Have Heavier Defense For Your Highest Point Territory

    Having the most points at the end of the game is what gains you victory. With this in mind, gaining and keeping high point territories will help you win. Therefore, you should place your best defense at your highest point targets.

    Spread Your Team Out

    However, you should also think about the location of each target. Both teams may try to focus targets near the middle of the AC Paintball field. Meanwhile, territories near the corners or sides of the AC Paintball field may not see as much action and will be easier to keep.

    It may work best for you to have your team spread out and collect small territories first. Then focus on high point important targets toward the end of the game. It’s important to take all variables into consideration when formulating a strategy.

    Choose Your Equipment and Outfit Wisely

    The first step to playing offense effectively is to choose the right equipment. In many cases, playing offense involves a lot of running. With this in mind, it is important to choose light-weight equipment. Lightweight equipment may not have the same power as other guns, but having heavier equipment will weigh you down and impede your ability to run.

    You will also want to choose light clothing for the same reason. It is also a good idea to make sure your clothing doesn’t make much noise as you run. This will help you be stealthy if you have to sneak somewhere to capture a flag or surprise an opponent.

    Divide and Conquer, Use Flanking

    Next, you will want to start thinking about strategy. One popular strategy for playing offense is divide and conquer. If your entire team stays together, it becomes easy for your opponents to simply shoot at your group and start eliminating players. On the other hand, if you split up, your opponents have to find you first and can only take out a few at a time, if any at all.

    Flanking is another useful tactic you can use. It involves splitting up and surrounding your AC Paintball opponent on either side. By using flanking you can catch your opponents off guard and disorient their focus so you can close in around them.

    Set Up Ambushes

    Ambushing is another popular tactic you can use while playing offense at AC Paintball near Atlantic City, New Jersey. Ambushing involves you and a few of your teammates hiding in an area and waiting for an opponent to come by. Then when they do come by, you come out from hiding and go all out to eliminate them.

    Ambushes are a good way to eliminate dangerous opponents and to induce a bit of fear in the other team. However, ambushes do make a lot of noise. Therefore, you should make sure to only use them at an appropriate time.

    Hit and Run

    If you stick around, you could likely be hit and eliminated from the game. Therefore, it is a good idea to run away after you have fired your gun. As you do so, try to run in a zig-zag pattern. If you run in a straight line, it will be easier for your opponents to predict your position and hit you when they fire back.

    Don’t Just Use the Spray and Pray Method

    Firing rapidly looks really fun, but it’s not the best tactic for playing offense. It typically only works as a last defensive resort when you get ambushed. The spray and pray shooting method wastes paintballs and gives away your position. In most cases, you are better off taking the extra time to aim and just fire one shot, or a few more if you happen to miss. This is especially true for snipers whose job is to stay hidden and take out important opponents.

    Take Chances

    In defense, playing it safe is usually a good idea, but when you play offense, taking chances is a better strategy. While you still want to make smart choices, taking risky chances is often how AC Paintball games are won. As Wayne Gretzky once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

    You are in a race against your opponents to accomplish your goal. This means you have to act fast. Be sure to have a plan going into your AC PAintball game and try to get a head start against your opponents. After that, if you see a chance to give your team the upper hand or win the game, take it.     The point of nearly all AC Paintball games is to eliminate all members of the opposing team. Therefore, the faster you can eliminate more players, the better advantage you will have. So, how do you eliminate as many players as you can as fast as you can? AC Paintball near Atlantic City, New Jersey is here with nine tips to help you accomplish this task.

    Take Your Time to Aim

    The first step to eliminating your opponents is being able to hit them. To do so, you need to aim your marker right. When you are in the heat of the moment, it can be easy to get caught up in the excitement and try to aim and shoot your gun as quickly as possible. However, if you take an extra second or two or aim your marker more accurately, you may find that you greatly improve your chances of hitting your opponent.

    It is also a good idea to test your gun before your AC Paintball game. This way, if it favors one side or shoots differently, you can adjust your aim.

    Fire In Bursts When Appropriate

    There are times during your AC Paintball game when shooting in bursts is not a good idea because it will give away your position. However, there are times when it is appropriate to shoot in bursts. For instance, if your opponents are on the move, firing many shots will improve your chances of hitting them. If your opponents ambush you, firing multiple shots can also help protect you or at least take a few opponents out with you.

    You don’t have to hit your opponent straight in the chest to eliminate them. Be on the lookout for arms, feet, or other body parts sticking out from behind the bunkers. If they unknowingly leave even a small part of themselves exposed, it’s your opportunity to take advantage of.

    Learn To Move and Shoot At the Same Time

    There will be times at AC Paintball where you may have to chase your opponent. Therefore, being able to aim and shoot while moving is a useful skill to have. By practicing and mastering this skill, you can improve your ability to eliminate your opponents no matter what the situation is. The key is to learn how to continually adjust your aim based on both your and your target’s speed.

    Always Look For Advantages

    Try to continually look for other ideas and perspectives. You never know when you will find a useful idea or strategy that you can take advantage of. Maybe you will find a good spot to hide or learn important information about your opponent’s strategy. Always be aware and think outside the box.

    Learn To Predict Your Opponent’s Moves

    Once you play enough games at AC Paintball, you may start to notice that you can better predict what your opponent will do and where they will move. When you know where they will move, you can figure out how to corner them and eliminate them. Think about what their goals and strengths are. Figure out what you would do in their position. Chances are what you would do is similar to what they are planning to do. Use this thinking to your advantage.

    Set Up Ambushes or Use Pinching

    There is strength in numbers. If you can communicate well with your team, you can set up ambushes to eliminate your opponent’s most dangerous players. You can also use a technique called pinching where each teammate takes a different side of a bunker that an opponent is behind. Your opponent will have fewer places to run to and you can increase you can more easily eliminate them, or at least trap them.

    If You Keep Missing, Move On

    There may be times where you are having an off day and just can’t seem to hit your target. If you keep missing, move on and find a new target or another way to contribute to a game. If you dwell on something too long, it will only get worse. Refocus and get your game back.

    Make Sure You Have Enough Ammo

    Finally, make sure you have enough ammo to last your entire AC Paintball game. If you run out of ammo, you have nothing to eliminate your opponents with. Be sure to check how many paintballs you have before each game and ensure all of your equipment is working properly. Then you can go out and help lead your team to victory!

    An AC Paintball game can change a lot based on the number of players. Therefore, you will want to choose how many people you choose to invite carefully. Here are some comparisons to help you decide if you rather play with a small group or a large group.

    Organization

    Every trip to AC Paintball in southern New Jersey takes some level of planning. You need to figure out what days everyone is free, figure out how everyone is getting there, and make sure everyone knows how to prepare for the trip. The more people you have in your group, the more difficult this task will become.

    If you are good at organizing trips and enjoy it, you can easily consider hosting a large group trip to AC Paintball. If organizing is not your forte, however, you may want to find someone who is willing to help you or just stick to small group games.

    Evening Out the Teams

    Another part of planning is making sure the teams are even. It is a good idea to figure out the skill level of each member of your party and divide up the players so each team is evenly matched. This will help make your AC Paintball game more fun for everyone.

    There are positives and negatives for both group sizes in this aspect. A group of four can be difficult to make even if one player has a lot of experience and the other three don’t. However, if two people are experienced, it is simple to put one experienced member on each team. On the other hand, a large group can be difficult to divide evenly because it is hard to judge every single player’s skill level beforehand.  However, you have a better chance of randomly placing skilled players on both teams.

    Game  Length and Speed

    The number of players can also affect the speed of the game. The more people that have to be eliminated, the longer your game will take. Keep in mind that longer games can be fun for those still playing, but can get boring for those who have been eliminated early in the game. Also, long games can be more fun, but also more tiring. Be sure to choose the right AC Paintball field and game type to keep your games at an appropriate length.

    Strategizing

If you have a lot of players, you can travel in groups so that teammates can help protect one another. However, if you have a small team, it is probably safer for each player to travel individually to cover more ground.

    Larger teams also mean you have more opponents to eliminate. Your AC Paintball game can quickly become a game of numbers. A team of two doesn’t have much chance of winning against a team of six. Therefore, you may want to use a strategy that works to eliminate as many opponents as quickly as possible.

    Communication

    Communication is also part of the strategy and you should keep this in mind. If you have a large group, you should come up with a system that makes it easier for everyone to communicate with each other. If even one person doesn’t get the message, it can mess up the rest of your game plan.

    With a small group, you have fewer people to worry about getting the message to, but it can also be more difficult to communicate at long distances.     Your Team

    The first aspect you should consider is your team. Figure out what your team can bring to the table. Here are some questions you will want to find answers to.

    How many members are on the team?

    If you only have a few members, you may want to play more on the safe side as each player means more to the team. However, if you have a large team, you can be more daring and plan ambushes.

    What is each player’s skill level?

    Before you start your AC Paintball game, ask your teammates how experienced they are. One good strategy is to pair off more experienced players with less experienced players. This way you always have someone at each position who can lead the others. This tactic helps create balance on your team and help avoid having weak areas.

    What are your strengths?

    When you are planning a strategy, you may want to ask everyone what their strengths are and what they can bring to the team. Knowing this will help with choosing positions. For instance, if someone is a fast runner, you may want to place them as a Frontman. If they are an accurate shooter, a sniper may be the best position. Knowing your team’s overall strengths can also help you gain an advantage over your opponents.

    What are your weaknesses?

    Just as important as knowing your strengths is knowing your weaknesses. Determining this can allow you to plan to avoid problems that you may run into due to that weakness.     While you may not be able to ask your opponent’s the same questions that you ask your team, you can try to gauge them based on what you already know. If you know a certain opponent is going to carry their team, you may want to create a plan to try and eliminate them early in the game.

    Even if you do not know your opponents well, you can watch them during your AC Paintball game and determine who you may want to target. Be sure to set up a communication system with your team to inform each other of changed plans and strategies.

    Try to Predict Their Strategy

    If you get an idea of what your opponents’ strategy will be, you can figure out ways to counteract their plan. Think about what your plan would be if you were facing your team. If you can prevent them from gaining an advantage, you can improve your team’s chances of being victorious.

    The Field

    AC Paintball’s bunker set up is not arbitrary. Each bunker position is carefully thought out and can be part of your winning strategy. Before your AC Paintball game, you should take a walk around the field and try to notice how the bunkers work together. You can even create a strategy to move safely across the field.

    Coverage

    Once you know where the bunkers are and what your teammates’ strengths are, you can figure out how your team should be positioned on the field. You will want your team to cover the field well, but still be safe from elimination.

    One common strategy teams use at AC Paintball is splitting into three groups. One team travels up the left side of the field, another travels up the right, and the other group goes up the middle. However, if there is a path up the middle you may want your center group to travel a bit off the path to avoid becoming an easy target.

    Game Type

    Finally, you will want to consider the goals of the game. Are you trying to capture a flag, eliminate opponents, or defend a specific player? The strategy will can change drastically based on what you have to do to win the AC Paintball game.

    If you are playing speedball, you may shoot more often to ensure you eliminate your opponents quickly. On the other hand, if you are playing capture-the-flag you will likely focus less on eliminating opponents and more on capturing your opponent’s flag while also defending your own.     new jersey speedball paintball fieldOne of the most popular games, if not the most popular game at AC Paintball is Speedball. We offer two speedball courses in southern New Jersey. The first is the Speedball Tournament Field which meets tournament standards, and various types of bunkers. The other is the Hyperball Field which is AC Paintball’s smallest field which makes for fast and intense games.

    Once you pick a field, you need to start strategizing. Every game is different depending on what field you choose, what game you choose, the layout of the field, and the players. You need to take all of these aspects into consideration when creating a plan. However, there are some basic strategies that apply to most speedball games. So, check out AC Paintball’s tips below!

    Make a Plan

    When you start making a plan, you will want to walk around AC Paintball’s field and pay attention to the layout of the bunkers. Figure out what each player will be in charge of and choose a path of bunkers each player can move to. Make a strategy for early in the game, mid game, and late game.  You may also want to create a backup plan.  This way you won’t run into each other or increase the chance of running into other issues.

    When everyone knows what they are in charge of and can follow a specific plan, you will increase your chances of winning the game. There is potential that you will need to make adjustments based on what your opponents do. As long as you communicate those changes, you can still be successful.

    Start Eliminating Early

To accomplish this, you will want to start eliminating as soon as possible. As soon as the game starts, try to catch your opponents off guard. Many of them may be focused on getting to their planned location.  However, if your team focuses on elimination instead, you may be able to decrease your opponent’s numbers. This can give you an advantage for the rest of the game.

    You may want to use your back players to focus on this task. That way the frontman and other players can focus on strategizing and moving up the field. This can also work as cover fire so your frontman can move safely up the field.

    Protect Important Players

    Since AC Paintball’s speedball fields are smaller, you have a better chance of getting hit. Therefore, you will want to watch your teammates back more often. If you have a specific player trying to pull off a risky move, make sure they have someone to follow them up the field as cover.

    Teamwork is an important part of paintball. If your team can work together and communicate, you will increase your chance of achieving victory. Your team’s ability to coordinate with each other can be the difference between winning and losing.

    Shooting

    Compared to most woodsball or scenario games, speedball involves more shooting. You will need to shoot often to both defend yourself and take out as many opponents as you can.     Another helpful shooting technique it to snap shoot from behind the bunkers. Stay behind your bunker and use it to take cover. When you notice a good chance to shoot, quickly poke your head out, aim, and fire. Then immediately take cover again. This will help you stay protected, but allow you to eliminate players.

    Moving

    Not only will you want to shoot often, but you will want to move around often as well. If you stay in the same place for too long, you risk the chance of getting surrounded and eliminated. This is why it is important to plan a path ahead of time. Hop from bunker to bunker when you can do so safely.

  • Tips for Being Unpredictable and Tricking Your Opponents

    black-and-white-1283234_960_720Sometimes, the difference between winning and losing can be determined by one factor. This factor is unpredictability. Many historical sporting events, competitions, and wars throughout history have ended with surprising outcomes. Every season, sport-experts make predictions about power rankings and who will win. Yet, no matter how much they compile statistics, they still make errors. Unforeseen events can change history in an instant.

    Mastering the art of deception can be a useful trait when playing at AC Paintball. It can help any player gain control over the outcome of the game. Paintball is one of the most strategic sports out there. When you think outside the box, you can take advantage of more opportunities. When your team’s chances look bleak, you can turn the game around.

    Deceptive Movement

    Location plays an important role in paintball. To eliminate someone, a player has to know where their target is. If your opponent can’t find you they can’t eliminate you. Deceptive movement is extremely helpful for frontmen at AC Paintball. If you can create a show that distracts your opponent, you can sneak into their zone.  Then you can more easily complete your objective. These tactics are difficult to use on a speedball field. Yet, they can be very useful in AC Paintball’s wooded fields.

    Using Teammates

    There are a few tactics you can use to trick your opponents when it comes to location. The first involves working with your teammates to create a distraction. When you need to move, signal your teammates to create noise or a distraction. When the enemy is preoccupied with shooting at your teammates, you can sneak in. Then you can capture the flag, rescue a hostage, etc.

    When You Are Alone

    If you don’t have teammates nearby, there are still some ways to fool your opponents. You can throw a stick or tree into a tree or bush to create sound away from your position. While the enemy is distracted by the sound, you can move where you need to. When possible, be sure to try and cover up and evidence of your whereabouts. Try not to leave footprints or a trail for your opponents to follow.

    Use Deceptive Codes

    paintball-1449870_960_720Using code words is a great way to communicate orders without giving away plans to your opponent. Codes can be even more deceptive if you make one order sound like it means something out. Take Iceland and Greenland, for example. Iceland is green with a nice climate while Greenland is covered in ice. Many believe the Nordics mixed up the names to mislead rivals who were trying to invade their land.

    Your team can use the same tactic. Pick a landmark on an AC Paintball field and use it as a code word that means something else. If your opponent is spying nearby, they will overhear your conversation. They may think they understand your plans and report the information back to their team. Then their team will create a plan to try and win. Meanwhile, your team can assume where your opponent will be and create a strategy to win the game.

    Changing Your Strategy

    Many teams who play weekly practice the same strategy over and over. It can help improve the game by knowing what to expect from your teammates. When you use this tactic, it can help build team chemistry, but it also makes your team predictable. If you send the same team members to the same places each time, your opponent will notice. Then they will eventually figure out how to win every time.

    Your team can use this to your advantage, though. If you use the same strategy for a few games, but then change your tactics, you can throw off the other team. This tactic can also be distracting. When you use this tactic, you teach your opponent’s not to underestimate you. It can make them a bit fearful, and throw them off their guard.

    Defensive strategies can also trick your opponents. When playing at AC Paintball, it can be terrifying when you are alone and a group of enemies come near. You have to be extra quiet to avoid them noticing you. Yet, one tactic actually involves making noise. If you are alone, pretend you aren’t. Create a conversation that sounds like you are talking to a teammate.

    This may cause the enemy to see the situation as more of a threat. If it sounds like more than one person is nearby, they may not be as quick to ambush you. Walkie-talkies can also be useful in this case. You can leave an extra Walkie-talkie in a strategic spot.  When appropriate you can talk into it to make your opponent thinks there is a player there. Then, while they head toward the sound, you can sneak up on them. This approach can be useful to snipers at AC Paintball.

    Be Fair
